This was our way of saying thank you to all the staff for their hard work and to had out certificates and prizes to those who had exceeded in certain areas . As part of the Healthy week within the schools , the year 3 pupils at Elmwood Juniors had a lesson on having fun with fruit . All Children like pizza’s so Jamie form Caterlink held a lesson on Pizza making with Water Melon and many different fruits . All the children loved doing this and it was also a good way for them to learn more about fruit and how much fun it can be to eat it as well .

Elmwood Juniors have been holding a Healthy eating week and Caterlink arranged with the school to hold 2 Healthy eating assemblies , where Jamie White from Caterlink went along and held a live cooking lesson where he spoke to the pupils about how to manage to eat 7 fruit and veg a day .

During the healthy eating week at Elmwood we helped the school to hold a competition as they are having a culture day . We got the pupils to design a menu for this special day and we announced the winner in the assembly . Aleena was the lucky winner as a lot of time and effort had been put into the menu as she managed to work out the recipes as well . Eleena was awarded with a voucher and a JoJoe Crow goodie bag .

On Wednesday 3rd June and Thursday 4th June Forestdale Primary school held food tastings for Infants and juniors children and parents. On the menu was Homemade beef lasagne and vegetable and quorn curry, with lemon drizzle cake and carrot and courgette cake. All dishes were well received, with the children loving the food.

The team at Norbury Manor provided Breakfast and afternoon snacks for the year 6 pupils whilst they were sitting their Sats , the pupils also made time to make some lovely cards for the ladies in the kitchen which meant a lot to them . I wanted to share with you all the time and effect that the pupils went too even though they were doing their exams . Another pupil wrote in the card Thank you for the tasty food for the year .

Congratulations to Jan Daly Assistant Cook at Norbury Manor for passing her NVQ Diploma in Kitchen Services and Hospitality and also passing in Catering Principles . This took Jan 18 months to complete a very well done to her .

Nick weight went along to Good Shepherd Primary school to hold a healthy eating assembly and cooked a lovely vegetable stir fry for the pupils to try. During this assembly Nick spoke about why we need to eat 7 fruit and Vegetables a day and turned it into some fun by having a quiz on Fruit & Vegetables . One of the key questions was is a tomato a Vegetable or Fruit .

Nick Weight and Jeanette the cook Manager eagerly waited to welcome the parents and pupils after school to try the delicious home-made Pizza bread along with some disehes of the current menu . All were greatly received and some good feedback was given . It was nice to see the pupils coming back for more especially those that have pack lunch and the parents have said that their children will be trying hot dinners . Beulah Juniors held a Healthy Eating week, the Catering manager held lessons to discuss Healthy Eating and explain why we should eat the correct foods. The pupils then had the chance to make Pizzas.

Nicholas Weight held a Bread making lesson with the Year 3 pupils at Orchard Way . The pupils learnt a lot about the making of bread and then enjoyed themselves making some very exciting shapes and sizes and then took the end result home .

Nicholas Weight was Invited along to Good Shepherd to speak to the year 2 pupils on how to make bread . The pupils had a lot of fun whilst still learning and managed to make some exciting shapes and sizes of different breads .

From this September we are enhancing our commitment by providing our school cooks with British Organic Milk to use in cooking in their primary school kitchens’. Naturally, I trust that our schools & pupils/parents see this positive benefit to our food sourcing.
 
 

JoJoe enters Sports Day at Good Shepherd

All the pupils at Good Shepherd had a fun day on Thursday 11th July 2013. We held a Teddy Bears picnic and all the pupils managed to eat outside on the field. On this special day the pupils also had their sports day and JoJoe Crow entered the staff race at the end of the day. A fun day was had by everyone and thank you to the Head teacher Ann-Marie for entering JoJoe.
 
 

Assembly at Norbury Manor
14 January 2013



Nicholas Weight (Chef Trainer) for Caterlink along with Miranda (Unit Manager) for Norbury Manor presented an assembly on the importance of trying new foods and healthy eating. We were suitably impressed when during the question and answer session the children remarked that it was important to have a good diet not just for their health and well being, but also to help them concentrate at school. Jo-Joe Crow was also very impressed with this and has said that he will return to see the children at a later date to see how they are enjoying their Lunch.

Our Chef Trainer Nick Weight held an assembly accompanied with Anne the Assistant cook .The Children learnt about Healthy Eating & how to prepare a Healthy meal. JoJoe Crow (Our Company Mascot) came along to say hello to the pupils and Staff. The children enjoyed taking part in the assembly by answering Nick’s questions. They especially enjoyed the part about growing new tastebuds . They also learnt about Spices and herbs and how they can be used in cooking and new growing techniques.

Whilst Nick was talking to the pupils at Kensington Avenue about healthy eating, Rachael cooked a pasta dish so the children could see the different variety’s of vegetables that can be easily cooked ! The pupils from year 6 at Castle Hill Primary were taking part in Master chef and the pupils made some superb Cup cakes. Michelle the Unit Manager from Castle Hill was Invited along to help judge the competition. JoJoe Crow Caterlink mascot was Invited along as a surprise quest. Well done to all the pupils that took part in this competition as I know a lot of time and effort went into all the cakes!

Kitchen Garden
01 September 2011



Sam Choo our on site chef manager has used old pots, pans, bins, mayonnaise tubs and branches from a cut down tree to grow a herb and vegetable garden outside the kitchen. It has been blessed by the local priest and visited by the pupils at Our Ladys. All the plants have been grown from cuttings or seed with no pesticides used. Sam uses the herbs to garnish and flavour his food and is extremely proud of his achievements. The school said "Sam is an asset to the school, we are extremely proud that he is our chef, the children love him"
